COLTON MINE PROJECT HAS LODGED EMP FOR ASSESSMENT OF COAL MINE PROJECT

August 16th, 2010

Mr Henry Sapiecha

Dear Henry,

I am writing to inform you that Northern Energy Corporation Limited (NEC) has lodged the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for its proposed Colton mine project with the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) for their review.

We at NEC have made every effort to ensure that we keep all interested community members informed about the proposed Colton mine project. You are receiving this email because you have indicated to us that you would like to be kept up to date about our progress, and you provided us with your email address. We have written you a letter as well, and this should arrive in the coming days.

Activities we have undertaken to inform people about our project include holding community information sessions in Maryborough, Howard and Aldershot, introduction of various feedback mechanisms including the 1800 information line, updated project information on the company website and efforts to promote awareness of the EMP process and the Plan itself to enable community members and other interested parties to comment and provide feedback on the plan.

The EMP for Colton mine project includes reports with baseline studies on all project related issues and highlights measures proposed by NEC to ensure that the project’s environmental impacts are managed appropriately.

DERM will undertake an initial review of the EMP and will advise statutory requirements for further advertising and public comment in due course.

In the meantime, if you are interested in getting a copy of the EMP for your own review you can visit the project website and download a copy for yourself. You will see that there are quite a few files, and some of them are quite large. We have done our best to break them down into small reports and have provided enough detail in the title block to allow you to make a decision about which parts of the report you wish to download.

The address to access the full EMP, including all of the appendices and supporting reports, is:

http://www.northernenergy.com.au/projects/maryborough/environment-manage.html

Queries or comments may be directed to the project

toll free number on 1800 266 296

or email at coltonmineinfo@northernenergy.com.au.

Yours sincerely

Mark Turner

EMPLOYMENT TRADE SHOW SUCESSFUL @ FRASER COAST WIDE BAY

June 21st, 2010

Bundaberg – Fraser Coast

Keep Australia Working Newsletter        Issue No.7, June 2010

The huge crowd of 4,250 people who attended the Bundaberg Jobs Expo on 19 May demonstrates both enthusiasm of the region’s job seekers and need for more jobs to Keep Australia Working.  Overall this was a popular and successful expo, with 60 exhibitors on taking nearly 2,200 resumes for 340 of the 400 job opportunities on offer.

Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard officiated along with Parliamentary Secretary Jason Clare, hosted by Lorraine Pyefinch, Mayor of Bundaberg and member of the Keep Australia Working Advisory Committee.

APPRENTICE KICKSTART – Extension

A reminder that small and medium sized employers and group training organisations who take on a young apprentice in a Certificate III or IV level qualification in a skills shortage trade occupation may be eligible to receive the Apprentice Kickstart Extension which triples the first year incentive payment. This incentive is available now and will be available until 12 November 2010. For more information, including the list of occupations, see the Apprentice Kickstart factsheet, visit the Australian Apprenticeships website or contact your local Australian Apprenticeship Centre.

PRODUCTIVE AGEING PACKAGE

Two elements of the new Productive Ageing Package will commence from 1 July 2010. The Career Renewal ? Job Retention initiative will help mature age workers keep a job with their current employer and/or transfer their skills to younger workers. The initiative will provide support to mature age workers to help them retain a job, or, if they are retired, semi?retired or not working full?time, to transfer their skills and experience to younger workers. Assistance includes training packages to allow eligible mature age workers to retain a job with their current employer and training for mature age workers at risk of losing their job due to a health condition, disability or injury, to help them keep their job.

The Career Renewal ? Career Transition initiative will help mature age workers stay engaged in the workforce, especially those in physically demanding roles. Assistance for this element will initially be targeted at those aged 55 years and over working in construction or manufacturing in Employment Priority Areas. This initiative will assist mature age workers to remain engaged in the labour market, focusing on those in physically demanding roles for whom transitioning to another industry or occupation may be of benefit.

KEEP AUSTRALIA WORKING – Advisory Committee

The KAW Advisory committee met during the Centrelink Jobs Expo. The major item on the agenda was the final draft of the Regional Employment Plan. The plan has gone through some changes as a decision has been made to publish the plans from all the priority employment areas. The plans should be ready for distribution by early July.

NATIONAL DISABILITY AWARDS

Nominations are now open for 2010 National Disability Awards. If you have made, or know someone who has made, a significant contribution to their community either at a local, regional, state or national level, tell someone about it by nominating for the awards.
