Keeping Queensland Working
Queensland businesses recognise their responsibilities to the environment. However it is of crucial importance that in moving to a greener future we do not disadvantage Queensland businesses who are the providers of jobs and the way of life that we all love within our state.
For this reason an emission trading scheme such as the Federal Government’s proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme must only occur once global agreement is reached. By moving in unison with our global competitors we will not disadvantage our import competing businesses and exporters. Through this simple principle we can keep Queenslanders working.
In recognising the importance of this issue to the Queensland business community Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland would like to hear from you to promote awareness of our state’s business perspective on this and other issues. Please email your comments and suggestions to policy@cciq.com.au

DAYLIGHT SAVING FOR QUEENSLAND SURVEY
How would Daylight Savings affect your business?
The State Government has committed itself to community consultation on the issue of daylight savings. It is crucially important a business perspective is provided as part of this consultation process and Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland wishes to circulate to all members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly the results of the below snap poll.
Once and for all we wish to understand whether this debate is a lifestyle one or has economic implications as well. We also wish to ascertain how important this issue is for the Queensland business community.
Our snap polls have come tantalisingly close to cracking the 1,000 mark on several occasions and we are anticipating that daylight savings will be the biggest poll yet. Your input is vitally important and it is crucial the voice of business is heard in this debate.
The Daylight Savings Snap Poll will be open until 5.00pm on Friday 23 April.

SURVEY – FAIR WORK AND AWARDS
The Fair Work Act & Modern Awards

After exactly one month of operation
The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland is currently examining the impact of the new Fair Work Act and modern award system on Queensland employers in order to provide feedback to Fair Work Australia and the Federal Government.
Hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders have had dramatically altered industrial relations arrangements for their workplace.
There has been significant apprehension over the Federal Government’s new ‘fair work’ national employment standards and modern industrial awards that were introduced 1 January. CCIQ now wishes to establish whether this apprehension was founded.
CCIQ wishes to analyse what level of understanding exists and at what stage of implementations are businesses at with the new changes with the possible view of seeking further awareness campaigns and a moratorium on any prosecutions arising from the new laws.
The Fair Work Act must be monitored to consider the impact of the changes on Queensland businesses, jobs and the economy.
Please take the few moments required to complete the following survey.
