WIDE BAY BURNETT REGIONAL PLAN DISCUSSION & H ERVEY BAY FORESHORE CLEANUP TALKS

Dear Members and Guests,
Hervey Bay Chamber Breakfast – Wednesday 24 November, 2010
at 6.45am for a 7.00am start at the Boat Club, Buccaneer Drive Urangan
NOVEMBER BREAKFAST SPECIAL
2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1
This month the Chamber has the unique opportunity to be able to offer two presentations for the price of one with both presentations focussing on the future development of our great region.
1. UDIA BRIEFING ON THE WIDE BAY BURNETT REGIONAL PLAN
Now is the time for you to have your say. The State Government has outlined its’ plans for the development of the Fraser Coast over the next 20 years and is calling for submissions on how this plan will impact on you. We are talking about a plan that will impact on how you live and how you do business for the next 20 years and it is essential that you understand what it means.
To help us understand what it all means the Chamber has asked the local branch of the UDIA to provide us with a comprehensive briefing on how the plan will impact on life in Hervey Bay.
2. PETER CHAPMAN, EDITOR OF THE CHRONICLE ON THE FORESHORE DEBATE
We have all seen the recent media debate about cleaning up the foreshore and have asked Peter Chapman, the editor for the Fraser Coast Chronicle to talk to the Chamber and tell us about the feedback he received as a result of the survey and what he thinks the next step is.

DRIVE TO SURVIVE @ THE FRASER COAST QLD

Dear Chamber Members & Supporters,
This morning sees the launch of the Chronicle’s “Drive to Survive” campaign.
Spanning the age groups, the deaths over the last 4 months have been truly shocking
On behalf of the Chronicle, I would ask for your support as we campaign to get 10,000 people on the Fraser Coast to take our Pledge online. The ‘drive to survive’ pledge is a 10 point commitment to safer driving and we are asking all our members and supporters to sign up on the website www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au
I do hope we can have your support and you will pass this on to your staff and encourage them to sign.

POLITICIANS MEET THE PEOPLE AT THE FRASER COAST FOR YOUR VOTE
MEET THE HOPEFUL POLITICIANS AND HAVE YOUR SAY

Dear Members and Supporters,
MEET THE CANDIDATES IN HERVEY BAY
TUESDAY, 10TH AUGUST
Traditionally the Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce has called together the electoral candidates at election time, locally, state and federally; and this year the generosity of USQ provides us with a great venue to once again co-ordinate the “Meet the Candidates” forum.
Open to the public the program begins sharply at 5.30pm next Tuesday 10th August in the B104 Auditorium (which can accept up to 180 people), USQ, Old Maryborough Road, Hervey Bay; and is planned to finish by 7.30pm.
The 6 candidates of the Hinkler electorate have committed to be available for the structured speech and question/answer program conducted under the auspices of the Chamber executive. Each candidate will be provided 7 minutes to portray their policies and plans and then they may take 5 minutes for questions from the floor. After all candidates have had their individual time, we will accept questions from the floor to any of the candidates individually or as a whole till the 7.25pm structured timing completion.
These “Meet The Candidates” meetings that have been conducted in various areas around the electorate provide the public with a great opportunity to assess their electoral candidates as a group, and have been well attended. The Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce is expecting a good roll up of interested voters to attend their function.
Please feel free to circulate this invitation to your contact lists.
